Doyle Dennis Avery LLP congratulates partner, Jeff Avery, on achieving board certification in labor and employment law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization (TBLS). TBLS certifies lawyers who have substantial, relevant experience in select areas of law, completed continuing legal education hours in the specialty area, and passed a rigorous exam. Clients and organizations get the highest quality of legal services when working with Board Certified lawyers.
The TBLS was established by the Texas Supreme Court and Texas Bar in 1974 to advance the standards of the legal profession. Currently, there are over 100,000 attorneys licensed to practice in Texas and only 662 of those attorneys are board certified in Labor and Employment by the TBLS. Lawyers in this area have specialized knowledge of state and federal labor and employment laws and advise clients on employment matters, such as employer-employee relationships and labor organizations. To achieve board certification by the TBLS, a lawyer must have substantial labor and employment experience and prove their specialized competence in their area of law. Specifically, applicants must receive qualified vetted references from judges and lawyers in the area; complete 60 hours of TBLS approved continuing legal education in Labor & Employment Law; meet all of the TBLS Standards for Attorney Certification; and pass a comprehensive 6-hour examination in Labor and Employment Law.
As stated by the TBLS, Board Certification is a mark of excellence and a distinguished accomplishment. Congratulation Jeff on this achievement.
