Doyle Dennis Avery LLP and Katrina Patrick’s client is a licensed Vocational Nurse. She worked as a licensed vocational nurse for Crockett Medical Center at its location in Travis County, Texas. As a concerned and responsible nurse, she reported racially discriminating conduct in the workplace which she had reasonable belief violated Texas law and created a hostile environment that posed as a substantial risk of harm to herself and patients as a result of the failure to provide patient care which conforms to minimum standards of an acceptable and prevailing professional practice or to, statutory, regulatory, or accreditation standards, and for the racial discrimination she and patients had received. After Doyle Dennis Avery LLP’s client had reported these incidents, the client was wrongfully terminated for making the reports. Crockett Medical Center also retaliated against Doyle Dennis Avery LLP’s client by fabricating pretextual reasons for terminating her and submitting a complaint against Doyle Dennis Avery LLP’s client to the Texas Board of Nursing.
