Patrick was born and raised in Houston, Texas and is a proud graduate of The University of Houston, summa cum laude, and The University of Texas School of Law, with honors.
Patrick’s mom taught him the importance of hard work, and his father, who was a long-time union member, raised him to be the type of person who believes in the importance of doing the right thing and protecting those who are the most vulnerable from wrongful conduct. It is from this upbringing that Patrick developed his passion of helping employees who are subjected to unfair or discriminatory employment practices.
As a founding partner of Doyle Dennis Avery, Patrick has substantial involvement in the firm’s trial practice on behalf of employees who have been subjected to retaliation or wrongful termination, such as the following: reporting work injuries (under Texas Labor Code 451.001, protected acts the Seaman’s Protection Act), seeking advice under the National Labor Relations Act, organizing and engaging in Union activities, reporting Occupational Safety and Health Administration violations, reporting Fair Labor Standards Act or wage-hour violations, and nurses or doctors who report safety issues (including under Texas Occupational Code 301.413 and Texas Health and Safety Code 161.134 and 161.145). In addition, Patrick is committed to protecting workers from discrimination on the basis of race, gender, ethnicity, or other protected class, under State and Federal law.
Through his years of practice, Patrick has become a strong advocate for employees throughout the United States. Patrick prides himself on holding employers responsible for following the law and ensuring that his clients receive fair treatment and respect.
